I love adding special little details around my home when I decorate. I like to add in unexpected surprises that elevate a common piece to the next level, like a piece of trim on a blanket or a tassel on a cushion. Lampshade finials are one of those details I have the most fun with.
If you’re not familiar with this term, they are the little screw cap that holds the lampshade (that sits on a harp) in place on the top of the lamp. All lamps with a harp and shade will have one.
Depending on the age and style of your lamp, this could be just a small brass cap. Some lamps come with a fabulous finial that ties the whole piece together. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, so it is up to you to take it up a notch.
Lampshade finials can be as decorative and ornate as you like. A large finial can be upwards of 4” tall, peeking out above the lampshade. These unique touches are available in a multitude of styles, materials, colours and finishes. You can also be creative and make your own.
