This family home was originally built in the early 1970’s. As was the custom of the day, the main floor consisted of many rooms, all walled off from one another. The client wanted an open concept in the main living areas of the home, that allowed easy access to the expansive 15′ x 25′ deck off the kitchen.
Renovation and Design Portfolio
This project has been an ongoing labour of love since 2015. The client first contacted me to assist her in updating her family room, living room and dining room sofas and chairs with washable slip covers. From there we have touched on every aspect of these rooms.
A beautiful home with magnificent views. The home owners contacted me through Houzz to assist them in updating their kitchen and family room. Prior to the updates we made, the rooms were painted a dark green and the windows were covered in heavy drapery.
A beautiful white oak hardwood was the jumping off point for this project. It formed the backdrop for the layers of cream, white and taupe used throughout the home in furnishings and millwork.
The client’s love of the outdoors and the birds that visit their expansive garden were the inspiration for this home.
The plan for this beautiful suite with stunning views of Downtown Vancouver was ‘simple elegance’.
This lovely family home was in need of a major update. The clients, now empty nesters, wanted their home to reflect their relaxed lifestyle, while keeping it open and airy for large family gatherings.
Traditional and classic, this home will surely pass the test of time.
Chrome and glass accents, metallic wallpapers and quartzite stone are featured throughout, creating a bright and reflective quality to the home.
Keeping in mind that the house attracts over 100,000 visitors during the fair, durability and functionality were kept top of mind. Features in the home include ‘vinyl’ hardwood floor, quartz countertops and hardwearing, washable fabrics.
Dark hardwood floors and black window frames anchor the space, creating contrast and a sense of warmth. Rich, coordinated fabrics used for the drapery, upholstery and bedding pick up the blue and carry it throughout the house. Crystal and glass add light and bling to each room, giving the home a sense of luxury.
Traditional elements abound in this 3000 sq ft Craftsman Style home. Extensive use of mouldings and wainscoting bring drama to the foyer. The homes’ many features include porcelain ‘hardwood’ flooring, a double sided gas fireplace, fitness room, a free-standing soaker tub and large walk-in shower in the ensuite.
